About

I have designed this page to provide employers with a brief insight into my family background and my accomplishments during my years prior to college. Therefore, I have decided to include this section so you may understand who I am and where I come from.

I am the oldest child in a family of seven. My parents did a wonderful job raising my siblings and me; a task that was difficult at times, I am sure. As the oldest, a great sense of responsibility has been ingrained in me from childhood. I have always done my best to look out for my younger siblings and provide a good example for them.

My parents have also taught me the value of having ethical standards. They have always pushed me to do the right thing, even if it is hard to do.  As a result, I have learned perseverance and honesty from them–two traits I believe are invaluable in the work force.

I learned the value of working hard during my high school and college years on the swim team. Swimming has always been a passion of mine, and I have learned to work in a team environment from my teammates and coaches. And I learned the value of having someone else there to push you on when you feel like giving up. I believe one can never go as far alone as they can with someone else alongside, helping them along.

My junior year of high school, I made the life-changing decision to go on a missions trip to Matamoros, Mexico. Although the trip was only two weeks, I will never forget the lessons I learned there. I traveled to the Mexican border alone, where I met with my team members and we crossed the border together. It took a lot of courage to climb aboard a plane alone for the first time I had flown since I was three.  While I was in Mexico, I learned so much from the local people and from my team members. Most importantly, I learned that making the decision to do something unknown and intimidating is often among the best decision you ever make.

Through every experience in life I have striven to learn and to test my abilities. I have never rested in what I have. Instead, I have always sought for a higher standard, and because of that, I believe I will be successful in work and in life.
